Conversations With Wren.

Mama: "What are these?"
Wren: "Deet."
Mama: "Good. How many feet do you have?"
Both: "One. Two. Two feet."
Mama: "What are these?"
Wren: "Yegs."
Mama: "Good. How many legs do you have?"
Both: "One. Two. Two legs."
Mama: "Okay, Wren. Do you remember what we call the things in the middle of your legs?" (thinking of his knees, but mistakenly not touching them as a reference)
Wren: "Middole yegs? *looks down* Gentles."
Mama: "Very good, Wren. Genitals."

He picked up this branch and proudly exclaimed, "V!"
Well done, Wren ~ some would argue that it also looks like a Y.

I was in the kitchen the other day. Wren came barreling down the hall, through the living room and kitchen and was headed for the office. I asked him what he was going to do, to which he simply replied, "Have fun." Sounds good to me.

Later that same day (no joke) Wren was very determinedly running in the opposite direction. I asked him what he was up to. Without looking up or stopping he replied, "Play room."

He never ceases to make me smile.

Bitso.

  • Our house is in a COMPLETE disarray (even by messy standards). We (or I) have everything pulled out of everywhere. Things are being reorganized, renegotiated, passed along, etc. Closets, rooms, pantries... nothing is safe. We're starting fresh. It is, however, quite claustrophobic whilst in process.
  • Wren has been going "pee pee" on the toilet an average of two times per day. He's very proud... as are we!
  • Thank you to everyone who contributed to our "Cali Vacay" fund. We are about half way there! Woo hoo!
  • Yesterday Wren was shaking his water bottle whilst doing hops and lunges on our bed. Water was everywhere. When I asked him what he was thinking. He simply replied, "Rain."
  • I still have a couple of thank you notes to get out ~ please bear with me. Shant be long now.
  • Happy has been an easy addition to our unit. Transition has been effortless. She and Wren are quite close already. :-)
  • Wren's chores include: starting the dishwasher, helping to sort laundry, helping to sweep the floors, and feeding Happy two times per day.
  • We are approaching this year with "rose-colored-glasses-half-full-of-silver-linings." *fingers crossed*

Funny Fellas.

Me: "You're a good guy."
Wren: "It's true."

Jesse: "It smells good in here..."
Me: "Oh yeah? What's it smell like?"
Jesse: "Meat and... hippies."

Me: "I love you."
Wren: "Thank you."

Jesse: "It smells good..."
Me: "Like meat and hippies?"
Jesse: "Not THAT good."

Ouch.

Wren loves his Great-Grandma Ouch. He quickly recognizes her in photos and says "Ouch?" to which I reply, "Yes. Ouch."

She was dubbed "Ouch" at her last visit because every time she got down onto the floor to play with Wren she would say "Ouuuch." Wren would laugh and laugh. She sealed the deal by muttering the same phrase on the way up.
She sure makes an impression on all of us. Our lovely, silly (Great) Grandma. :-)

Conversations With a Bird.

We were out in the backyard this morning. Wren was sitting on the patio enjoying the sunshine and listening to the wind chimes. I was pulling weeds and filling his pool in anticipation of a warm afternoon. I stopped what I was doing for a minute to see what he was up to. He was watching me. That's when this conversation took place:

Mama: "Hi."
Wren: "Hi."
Mama: "How are you?"
Wren: "Howahroo?" *nonchalantly picks something up off of the patio and puts it into his mouth*
Mama: "Did you just put a bug in your mouth?"
Wren: "No."

Funny boy.

This is What it's Come To.

I was getting ready to go to town today to run some errands. This conversation took place right before leaving the house:

Leslie: "I should put my ring on before I go to town... you know, so no men try to get me." (grabs ring and slides it on to ring finger of left hand ~ smiling jokingly)

Jesse: (looking confused) "Does your ring make you invisible?" (earnest tone and expression)

Leslie: (completely perplexed) "What...?!"

Jesse: "Ooohhhh..."

Conversations With a Bird.

Mama: "Can you say mama?"
Wren: *sheepish grin*
Mama: "I know you can do it. Can you say mama? Maahh maahh?"
Wren: "Baahh baahh."
Mama: "Good." *smiles*
Wren: "Good."

Little stinker. ;-)
